Dr. Welsh is Board Certified in Dermatology. In addition to her Dermatology training, Dr. Welsh completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco and is also Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Also known as "laser peel," laser skin resurfacing usually takes less than 1½ hours (sometimes just a few minutes) depending on the size of the area being treated. The procedure uses a Erbium laser beam which vaporizes the upper layers of damaged skin at controlled levels of penetration.

The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin, to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed. Chemical peels can remove brown spots, improve skin tone, acne and diminish fine wrinkling. Some chemical peels are very superficial peels (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, jessner's) usually will allow you to resume normal activities immediately and may be performed by a physician and will usually give a more dramatic benefit then superficial peels.
